I'm intrigued. Never been a big DC guy but I'm not reading anything else currently.
Iiiiiiinteresting! Always liked the Jason Blood/Demon Etrigan character(s).

I picked this up. Good read, first Byrne book I've enjoyed in a while. I'm not much of a DC fan or follower, but I'll give this book a chance.

I bought Blood of the Demon# 2 and Countdown to Infinite Crisis [80 pages for an affordable $1.00 and a good story] (plus a couple of MARVEL PREVIEWs and AF# 11 & 12), and I liked both the DC books. I'll check out Clayton Henry's new book when it comes out, though that may be the extent of my comic-book buying.
On FREE COMIC BOOK day, I got Blood of the Demon# 3 and TOHOTMU: Wolverine 2004 (mainly for the ALPHA FLIGHT entry, but learning about Sabretooth is an added bonus), plus some free stuff (including the House of M Sketchbook; one word for the Olivier Coipel pencils: awesome!)
I finally got Blood of the Demon # 1, today (5/14/05), which I thought I might've missed like I've missed so many #1's. I'll stick with this series for awhile. I'm not as impressed with the new Byrne-pencilled Action, though; the inking doesn't quite complement the pencils, and while the story is interesting, not quite interesting enough to continue buying the book.
Added 6/18/05: HELLIONS not as good as ANADAF. ACTION not as good as BLOOD OF THE DEMON.
Added 9/21/05: I read on the "DOOM PATROL" thread that BotD may be cancelled. Too bad. I like it, even though Etrigan's limitations are displayed when facing The Spectre in iss# 7. Still, entertaining, and I'll miss it, if it gets axed.
Added 1 May 06: I checked the DC upcoming comics site and it says that BotD's last issue is # 17. In a way, it's good and bad. The book is entertaining, but the supporting cast is getting roughed up, big-time. And without the supporting cast, Etrigan can be...boring/monotonous.
I've been reading some of the boards here and on NEWSARAMA about what John Byrne might be doing, what he did, blah, blah, blah, and I've done my share of Byrne-bashing in the past, but if he is inspired to do something as entertaining as BotD, I say more power to him. If his next project is Alpha Flight/non-Alpha Flight or characters who used to be in Alpha Flight (and they aren't getting killed off/burned up), I'll be interested.
I'd just like to read a good AF story, whether by Michael Turner, Mark Millar, Brian Bendis, Byrne, or whoever.
Once upon a time, they exploded from the pages of The X-Men. For a moment, they were "Canada's answer to The Avengers."
They were ALPHA FLIGHT....
...once upon a time.
