Thought the trailer was meh.
Well, it's not even really a trailer. It's a teaser.
Yeah, didn't think much of it, to be honest.
I'm sure the actual film will be good, but the teaser may as well have been deleted scenes from the first film.
Agreed. I didn't like any of the first movie trailers, but I really enjoyed the film
shouldnt have used the same song
I think the same song was used, because it's iconic to the movie. It's like saying, "They shouldn't use the Star Wars theme for Star Wars." :)
It's not though; the theme for Star Wars was written for Star Wars, and has the name of the film in the title.
Hooked On A Feeling was a pre-existing song, written for a different purpose that happened to be just one of the songs on the soundtrack used for the film.
Although there's a strong chance it wont actually be in Vol.2.
Being from the first trailer makes it more memorable.
And li'l Groot was sooo adorable!

"I watched Titanic when I got back home from the hospital, and cried. I knew then that my IQ had been damaged."
~ Stephen King
Oh, I'm not saying it's not memorable; just not iconic.
Well, not iconic to this particular film. You're right there.
Iconic? No. But you don't associate specific songs to specific movies, because they were a part of the soundtrack?
Also, I wonder since this was a teaser, they don't want to give away too much of the movie (obviously) and may not want to give away the score for Vol 2 (since Vol 1 was a pretty big hit).
Yep. I'd basically forgotten Hooked On A Feeling until GotG 1 came along.Quote:

Shut off pedant mode.
Pedant mode off.
*whew*. That's good; nobody likes a pedant.
I'm thinking the advertising will stick to the limited number of songs Starlord has in his two tape collection.
True, but the second tape will give us a whole new album's worth to explore.

Iconic? No.
Which is it? :P

Maybe that's because I still the song with Ally McBeal...

Oh yeah, I totally agree, and referenced it was a teaser.
Maybe I just don't like teasers.
Yep when I hear that song I think of the dancing baby....not guardians
Me either, since I was teased so much as a kid.Quote:

Don't have a problem with teaser trailers, though. ;)
I'm not a fan of trailers at all, to be honest.
I like to be surprised and see ALL of a film at once, especially if I'm paying for it.
1. I never watched a single episode of Ally McBeal... so, that dancing baby thing is lost on me...
2. Hold on, if you don't like teasers/trailers, why did you watch it? :D
Cos on the internet nothing is unavoidable!
It depends on the film, and on the trailer.
Sometimes getting to see snippets gets me excited. Sometimes it warns me not to bother. All too often it gives away too much.
I even once kept seeing trailers for a movie for so long I got sick and tired of the movie before it even came out. (Surf's Up)
(My 'favourite' is an old Foxtel trailer for A Christmas Carol with Patrick Stewart, that literally tells every single plot point from beginning to end, even talking about Scrooge's turn-around in the final scenes. I came away thinking, 'Most people know that story already; why do they need it retold like that? And the ones who don't... way to spoil it, trailer!' I couldn't find said trailer on YouTube.)
But there have been very good, very atmospheric trailers that have made me want to watch things that would never have been on my radar. One like the GotG trailer tells me we're getting close to it getting released. So, yeah, for me some are good.
The Dancing Baby isn't an Ally McBeal thing; it was an early internet vid. (AFAIK; I've never seen Ally McBeal either. Nor Single Female Lawyer.)

Don't get me wrong; I'm not too fussed about having GOTG2 teased...
I've got the phrase 'Star Wars' filtered and blocked on my social media as I really don't want those films spoiled.
I managed to get to Force Awakens without seeing any trailers or teasers or images, which helped make the film for me.
Other than that, I went in blind.
That's really cool. There's a lot to be said for going in blind.
I saw a completely new trailer for Rogue 1 before Doctor Strange last night, but I don't mind.

When I googled the dancing baby - I saw that it was related to Ally McBeal, so I assumed that's where you guys were talking about. So it was an "internet thing" that Ally McBeal later put into the show?
