History

Tundra is one of the Great Beasts. He first broke free into the Earth's realm when he was summoned by Richard Easton, Snowbird's father, who had long ago gone insane from his experiences with the gods. Tundra proceeded to grow by absorbing the land, posing a threat to the entire world until Alpha Flight defeated him. Snowbird mentioned that his full power would have been awakened in twenty minutes. At the time, Alpha Flight had just disbanded, but came together to defeat him. Tundra was defeated by the most natural of forces, erosion. Guardian tried to use his energy blasts on him, but in a hundred miles the ground heaves and tears as Tundra is one with the land. If Guardian continued to use his energy blasts he could have shattered all of Canada. It was later stated that the Tundra they battled was not the real Beast, but merely an earthly manifestation of him

Tundra next appeared on Earth when Walter Langkowski, in the body of Snowbird, was manipulated into releasing the Great Beasts. Tundra was defeated when Box IV melted him, as he was made mostly of snow and ice. The Beasts were expelled back into their dimension when an explosion destroyed the place of power which had freed them.

Tundra reached the Earthly dimension again when a young man, Nate Grey, a powerful psionic from another reality, accidentally breached the barrier between realms. Grey defeated Tundra by making him absorb to much energy in an unrealistic feat as by doing so would have destroyed Canada, which Snowbird warned about in his first apperance.

Powers/Abilities

The full extent of his powers were never stated, but his strength is born of sorcery ancient as winter and black as night. He is one of the Gods of the Elder Night. The Great Beasts are older than the Earth, but upon entering our dimension they must be stopped within twenty minutes or they will never be stopped at all. It was said "there is no one in all the world with power enough to truely harness and control a Great Beast"

Animal Manipulation: Tundra has the power to control all of the animals of the North. Even Snowbird was afraid to transform into an animal form near him.

Death and Decay: The Great Beasts were embodiments of death on Earth when it was first commencing to come alive. The Great Beasts rule over death and decay, and can emplore death and decay as a weapon against mankind.

Growth: Being part of the land, with each stride, Tundra grows. There is no limit to the size he can grow as long as there is still Earth, and time to absorb it.

Magical Manifestation: Tundra has the ability to summon a magical manifestation of himself that he uses to do his bidding for him. They have been shown to be sent to the Earth realm to do battle, while the true Tundra remains in the Realm of the Beasts. It's unlikely they possess all the Beasts true power.

Magical Vortex: Tundra can send back powerful magical spells that are casted upon him. He reversed the banishing spell used by the Northern Gods sending them to Paradise.

Reformation: If partially destroyed, Tundra can quickly repair himself. He is connected to the Earth somehow using it as a physical anchor to the plane, he can reform anywhere and reform his damaged mass.

Rock Projection: Since he is made of the Earth, he can send tons of rock and dirt flying out from his body as projectiles.

Speed: Tundra is very fast. He hit Sasquatch so quickly that he didn't see it coming.

Strength: Tundra is one of the strongest beings in the Marvel Universe. He is made up of the Earth and weighs thousands of tons. There is very little limit to what he coud lift as he can absorb more land to increase his strength.
