History

Razer is a centuries old sorcerer, who at an undisclosed point in time, became a being of pure mystical energy. Imprisoned within a pure shining scimatar by Persian mystics. The Sword of Baghdad or Ebony Blade containing Razer's spirit was kept within an Arabian temple. In Nineteen Thirty Nine an adventuer by the name of Eugene Judd attempted to aquire the blade, but when he touched the blade, Razer's spirit was released. He struck Judd with the swor and Judd suddenly found himself six inches smaller. Judd realised that the reason why Razer had been imprisoned was because he stole the souls of men. Judd then grabbed Razer's hands and struck himself through the head with the blade, thus trapping Razer within his own body. Razer was trapped, but Judd became a dwarf.

Over the years, it had been a constant struggle for Judd to contain Razer within his body. Following Puck's killing of Ernest St Ives he was sufficiently weakened in spirit to enable Razer to escape from his body. While the full sized Judd was incapacitated, Razer found himself in conflict with the remainder of Alpha Flight. He managed to contain Alpha and was almost on the point of victory, but Judd appeared and by stabbing himself with the mystic sword, managed to contain Razer within his body again. 1

While taking a break from the constant struggles that were confronting Alpha Flight at that time, Judd returned to Corky's Tavern. After breaking up a fight at the Tavern, Judd was asked for help by a young girl who led him to a cabin. Inside, instead of finding the young girls mother who needed help, he found himself in one of the Arcades Murderworlds. Arcade seemed to be holding Heather Hudson captive. Arcade told Judd that he had only a short time to rescue Heather, before two Carousel horses suspended above her, descended and crushed her. Judd failed in this and Heather seemed to die. Judd gave up on his constant struggle to contain Razer and he was released. Arcade immediately contained Razer in a glass container, with the intention of holding him until he could decide on how best to utilise him. Razer escaped and struck Arcade with the Ebony Blade. Arcade was shrunk slightly and then admitted to Judd that Heather had not actually died, but only a hologram, he had created. Judd took only a short time to decide on becoming Razers prison again by grabbing Razers sword and plunging it through his own head. Razer was trapped and Arcade effected an escape.2

In an attempt to find a cure for Aurora and Northstar, who were both suffering from unnamed illnesses, Alpha Flight took them to the Fire Fountain at Ungava Bay. This had been created months earlier by Loki in a scheme which had been eventually thwarted by Alpha and the X Men. During their trek to the Fire Fountain, Alpha were attacked by Dark Elves sent by Loki. Puck was knocked from a bridge and inadvertently released Razer. Alpha almosted suffer defeat, but Northstar summoned enough pure light to again defeat Razer.3
