History
Louis Sadler was a Canadian superhero during the second World War. All though never an official member of the globe-spanning Invaders, he joined forces on many Axis stomping adventures even placing Hitler in a headlock. The Nazi’s referred to him as the “Great White North” and the global press dubbed him the “Toronto Terminator”. His faithful sidekick died in an unrevealed means, and Major Mapleleaf even battled a villain that would later confront the Fantastic Four. After the war, he went underground to fight crime and eventually revealed his identity in 1963 to devote time to raising his son, Michael, his proudest achievement. Eventually however, Michael, who was gay, contracted HIV and died of AIDS. Louis went into a deep depression. Michael had always been Sadler's favorite of his two children. He appeared to have been physically and mentally abusive with his younger son, Louis Sadler Jr.
When Louis watched the news one night and heard of the story of Joanne Beaubier he became enraged. He felt that the media was unfairly treating the story. He saw the media as saying that since his son was gay, he didn't deserve attention; that being gay meant that it was OK to have AIDS. He became so enraged that he decided to kill Joanne Beaubier. Needless to say, Northstar, the girl's adopted father, came to her defence.
The two fought and Louis vented his rage. During the battle, Jean-Paul admitted that he too was gay. This only made Louis all the more angry, accusing Jean-Paul of not using his position and powers to help in the AIDS crisis, even blaming him, in part, for Michael's death. Northstar was incensed by this, but the two finally settled their differences and were both there when Joanne died.
Sadler's other son, Louis Sadler Jr, was drafted by Walter Langkowski to join Alpha Flight as Major Mapleleaf II.
Powers/Abilities
Major Mapleleaf’s origins are still a mystery, but a popular theory is he underwent some kind of genetic experiment gaining his powers.
Durability: Major Mapleleaf has an unknown level of durability, but has been shown to be near invulnerable to physical attacks without sustaining any damage.
Strength: Major Mapleleaf has an unknown level of super strength where he has been shown to break down a wall with little effort and was seen hurtling Northstar through a building
