This week sees 40 years since the release of (The Uncanny) X-Men #120!
The Canadian super-hero known as Vindicator meets with the Prime Minister in order to determine how best to capture Wolverine and force him back into service for the Canadian government.
Written by Chris Claremont & John Byrne, with art by Byrne, Terry Austin & Glynis Wein, letters by Tom Orzechowski and a cover by Bud Budiansky, the issue saw the return of Dr James Hudson, the mysterious character with connections to Weapon X aka Wolverine, previously seen in #109, and the introduction of his team of very special people - Alpha Flight!
Whilst the issue introduced the characters in their civilian guise, their calculated and coordinated attacks on the X-Men were mostly in the shadows meaning fans didn't get to fully see them until the second part of the storyline, in the next issue - and the rest is history!
The characters met with great fan approval and saw a return in Uncanny X-Men #139-140, Machine Man #18, and Marvel Two-In-One #83-84 before getting their own Series in 1983!
